Eurovision Song Contest 1970 was the 15th Eurovision Song Contest, held on March 21, 1970 at the RAI
In 1970 was a year that the competition dietrexe high risk. Only 12 countries took part as Portugal and all the Scandinavian countries abstained. Austria refuses to back and almost stopped to take place once Germany. The official reason was the voting system that allowed in 1969 to four countries to win the competition.
In lottery held among the three winners from four of 1969 (Spain waived its right), the Dutch television has to organize a second time after 1958, the Eurovision. This time was chosen the capital Amsterdam, the first by the Dutch, European viewers saw the famous "moving images", where contestants performers were presented with background images from their countries .. Despite the many abstentions, the voting system has remained the same. The EBU said Regulation, provided that in case of a tie would be second again without the countries isopsifousan, vevaia.Oi other countries would vote one of the isopsifisases. Only if and when the second round was again a tie, they will be proclaimed winners .. It was first banned in national committees to monitor the process of scoring.
The UK were betting on the famous country MARY HOPKIN. The fate of the UK, as one might say, was to be the eternal "second" in the ESC (1959, 1960, 1961, 1964, 1965, 1968). So, after a battle with the other English-speaking Ireland added another second place in the UK with 26 points .. The Irishman DANA, just 15 years old, with a perfect interpretation of "ALL KINDS OF EVERYTHING" won the confidence of the committees and earned the first victory at home.
Spain was represented by a player of Real Madrid who heard the name JULIO IGLESIAS! The JULIO sang the familiar style of the tune "GWENDOLYNE" which was the true story of a love for a girl in England, and launched one of the most brilliant international career.
This year we have the first run of the competition in Greece filming with a commentary by MAKO Georgiadou.
