The victory MASSIEL in 1968, brought EUROVISION in Madrid. The TVE hosted the competition in brand new theater REAL. While many Europeans believed that the organization of such an event would serve propaganda in favor of "Francoist regime" the EUROVISION Madrid was excellent in every respect. Nevertheless, Austria abstained because Franco and for the same reason and left the conductor of the Netherlands. The Salvador Dali curated the set design and breaks. Also, what will go down in history of the institution was to vote. If 1968 was disconnected from "Hitchcock" film in 1969 was something that hardly happens again EUROVISION. We had 4 winners country!
JEAN JACQUES The first was the child who appeared in Eurovision (just 12 years old) and sang for Monaco "MAMAN, MAMAN". The vote of 1969, as we said, is unique in the history of ESC. At first France and the United Kingdom stood out in the scoreboard and everything seemed to be judged between the two "eternal enemies". But then reserving many twists and the process became a thriller.
While remaining two countries to vote in the scoring was developed as follows: Netherlands 18, UK 16, France 16, Spain 16. It's Portugal's turn to vote (last but one country) which ignores the Netherlands and gives two points in Spain and France and sends them and in first place with the Netherlands. The UK gives a degree, following the first three now very close, with 17 points. The anxiety has reached its climax and it's Finland's turn to vote (last place). Finland has done something that even with odds ratios are very rare. Quite simply, completely ignores the Netherlands, France, Spain and offers a degree in the UK and creates a scenario that nobody could predict! Four countries in the first place! The EBU's regulations provided that if you tie, all countries had isovathmisei winners will be proclaimed, and it was!
It is worth noting that Spain is the only one of the winners who did not vote any other country, winning the 5th or even Switzerland.
