The Eurovision Song Contest 1965 was the 11th in the series.
The GRAND AUDITORIUM hosted the contest for the second time. The countries that took part were the same as in 1965, the Eurovision has now become a Europe-wide annual event.
The contest was now entering the 11th year and this was cause for general concern analaogika the presentation system or voting system. The four Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland) asked the EBU would improve the quality of the songs. The fact is that nothing substantial has changed in the presentation and the vote in 1966. The countries but now had to send songs to the official or the official languages of the state they represent.
This however must be mentioned is the issue raised by the Italian song. In the last rehearsal, which monitored and committees of Asian countries, DOMENICO MODUGNO stopped the implementation of the "DIO COME TI AMO" it found that the orchestra is not performing correctly the melody of the song. Nobody knew if Italy would be paid part or not. Finally, the DOMENICO MODUGNO came on the scene and gave a unique interpretation without orchestra, the piano accompanied only by the Italian conductor ANGELO GIACOMAZZI. The vote was marked by the exchange of "friendly" voting between the Nordic countries, which disapproved of the public.
In 1966 was the year that took part in the first Negress singer! The MILLY SCOTT from the Netherlands. The Austrian music "MERCI CHERIE" interpreted by Udo Jurgens, who represented his country for the third consecutive year, triumphed with 31 points, leaving far behind the 16 points with Sweden and Norway at 15 degrees
