Bonnie Tyler is the most popular art on Eurovision 2013

Tyler - who follows in the footsteps of last year's entrant Engelbert Humperdinck - is quoted as telling the Daily Mail: "It is an honour to represent my country and is also a wonderful way to ensure that my song 'Believe in Me' reaches the widest possible audience.

A unnamed Eurovision expert additionally told The Mirror: "She should be one of our strongest contestants in many years - her live vocal ability is tried and tested.

"Bonnie could easily finish in the top 10 with this power ballad. She has decades of experience so should be able to pull this off with aplomb."

Her first hit in the UK charts was Lost in France in 1976. It was It's a heartache in 1977 however that made her into an international star.

In the 1980's Bonnie Tyler collaborated with Meat Loaf producer Jim Steinman. From this period comes her huge international hits Total eclipse of the heart as well as Holding out for a hero.

With Modern Talking man Dieter Bohlen as her producer in the 1990s she had continued success in continental Europe.
