Armenia withdraws from the Eurovision song contest 2012


Bad news for Eurofans around the globe, Armenia will not take place at ESC 2012.


Armenian Public TV, announced, that Armenia withdraws from the Eurovision song contest 2012, to be held next May in Baku.

The Director General of Competition, Jon Ola Sand, said that despite efforts made ​​in terms of the EBU and the host country to achieve a smooth and safe participation of Armenia in Eurovision 2012, it finally was not possible and led the Armenia in the decision.

Armenia was drawn to compete in the second semifinal, which now includes 18 countries as the first. The number of countries participating in this years Eurovision will be 42.

Armenia since 2006 participating in the competition is present every year in the final ten, except in 2011 when Ema Boom boom and failed to qualify from the semifinal. The best place in the Eurovision is the fourth occupied by Sirusho with Qele Qele song in 2008, with 199 points.
